Our doctors are all licensed Doctors of Oriental Medicine, trained at Southwest Acupuncture College.
Acupuncture Associates of America is Albuquerque’s trusted provider of Oriental Medicine, including acupuncture treatments and nutritional supplements/herbal medicine.
The atmosphere of our clinic is warm and friendly. Many of our patients are long-term clients, but we strive to make each visit a comfortable one. We get to know our patients well and care deeply about all of you – your lives, struggles and goals. Treating our patients like family is crucial to us.
Our Team
Dr. Tapia-Reyes,
is an NCCAOM certified and licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist as well as state certified and licensed Doctor of Oriental Medicine (D.O.M.).
Dr. Tapia-Reyes is currently the Owner and Medical Director of Acupuncture Associates of America where she has been practicing for over 13 years. Dr. Tapia-Reyes has an undergraduate degree in psychology and a Masters of Science in Oriental Medicine. Her extensive experience includes acupuncture at several treatment centers and firms including state facilities and private organizations. She has served as a guest speaker for students of oriental medicine studying a specialized form of acupuncture called “detox” acupuncture, and has worked as the chief acupuncturist at a center designed for persons overcoming addictions. Dr. Tapia-Reyes practices both Chinese and Japanese acupuncture, herbal medicine, cupping, injection therapy, moxibustion, and infrared heat therapy. Dr. Tapia-Reyes is considered one of New Mexico’s premier acupuncturist.
Dr. Tapia-Reyes is specialized in the following fields:
- Pain Management using acupuncture and herbs to relieve pain from arthritis, injury & trauma, and fibromyalgia.
- Chronic Illness using acupuncture and herbal medicine to treat chronic illness such as depression, fatigue, autoimmune disease, stress, and more.
- Internal Illness treating shingles, gallbladder stones and/or inflammation, kidney stone, headaches, and tinnitus.
- Pregnancy Issues has had good results with using acupuncture to induce labor, relieve nausea in early pregnancy, turn baby from breech position, as well as treat infertility and post partum illness such as difficult lactation and abdominal pain.
- Women’s Health uses acupuncture and herbs to balance hormones and treat many women’s health concerns such as irregular menses, painful periods, PMS, and menopausal syndrome.
- Post Cancer Treatment Care uses acupuncture in post cancer treatment care such as nausea, pain, fatigue, anxiety, depression, hot flashes, and more.
- Detox using acupuncture to help cleanse the liver, kidneys, and urinary tract as well as overcome addictions to smoking, alcohol, and other drugs.
Dr. Robert Nuttall,
is a NCCAOM certified and licensed Acupuncturist and Herbalist and is state certified and licensed as a Doctor of Oriental Medicine in New Mexico. He received his Masters in Science in Oriental Medicine from Southwest Acupuncture College in 2003. He has been an associate with Acupuncture Associates of America since 2006.
Dr. Nuttall has lived all over the United States. He enjoys hiking, Qi Gong exercise, and lots of reading. As a strong advocate of animal rights, he is a regular rescuer of stray dogs and cats.
Dr. Nuttall’s treatment style incorporates both TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine) acupuncture and alternative Japanese style modalities. Infrared heat, Tuina massage technique, occasional electrical stimulation on needles, moxibustion, herbal formula strategies, when needed, are also integral components in his patient treatments.
In conjunction with referrals from western medical MDs, Dr. Nuttall strives to not only treat complex pain and disease issues, but works to educate his patients and help those who are already healthy to boost their energy and performance. “I am happiest when acupuncture for pain is successful and the patient’s regular prescribing physician is able to greatly reduce or eliminate their pain medications. At that point, continued acupuncture for Balance can get them feeling and performing even better than before their pain issues started”
